About NZ Possums
The Brushtail Possum is an animal introduced from Australia and found only in Australia and New Zealand. The species is protected in Australia, however, in New Zealand they have become a major ecological problem, especially as there is no natural predator to keep them in balance with the ecosystem. Seventy million possums eat their way through about 20,000 tonnes of native herbage each night.
